Christina River

The Christina River winds its way across the Northeast corridor. The sound of highways is omnipresent, with the occasional train adding a line to the music. Power transmission lines add height to an otherwise flat landscape. The riverbanks have a vegetation buffer for most of their length, supporting egrets, herons, cormorants, osprey, kingfishers, and eagles. Their calls added another line to the sounds of modern transportation. Occasionally the river opens up to large ponds and wetlands. Approaching the Delaware River, the Christina passes through Wilmington, where a mix of parks, old industrial sites, and modern businesses line the river.
