Lake nockamixen
Lake Nockamixen is one of the last products of the dam-building era. Beneath the surface lies the site of Tohickon Village, the last vestige being a five-arched stone bridge left standing when the dam was completed, now under 70’ of water. Nearly fifty years on the eight-mile lake appears to have always been there. The lake is the centerpiece of a state park and was built to be a recreational resource. It sees plenty of use by fishermen and boaters, supported by a sizable marina. Aside from the marina, a paddler will find plenty of places to go ashore. Water quality issues are associated with farm runoff, which may be why there is no swimming there.
