rancocas Creek
For much of its length, one would never realize how populated the shores of the tidal Rancocas are. The entrance from the Delaware River seems natural enough, with perfect beaches for a kayak. Riverside on the south bank and Delanco on the north are generally separated from the creek by flood plains. Here and there, the towns touch the river. Further upstream, there are woodlands and farm fields. Delanco boasts a marina; a bit further upstream, another is on the south shore. The paddler can find tolerable places to step ashore where the trees come to the riverbank.
