pennsauken Creek
Like many of the Delaware’s tidal creeks, Pennsauken Creek offers a path through working people’s communities, mixed with natural settings and traffic sounds. Paddling the lower four miles on a falling tide exposes extensive mudflats. Turtles slide off the dark mud and into the creek on the approach of a kayak. Blue herons and egrets take flight simultaneously, but the geese stay put and sound off, contrasting with the billboards, factories, and businesses along Rt 73. Palmyra Cove Nature Park is at the mouth, and to the south, views of the Betsy Ross and Delair bridges.
